Andrew Garten, PA-C

Physician Assistant Provider Profile

A transplant from the East Coast thanks to the US Navy, Andrew has set down roots in the Northwest. In the Navy he worked as a journalist, editor and in public affairs. After his second enlistment and honorable discharge as a Petty Officer First Class, Andrew moved into a brief career as a Graphic Designer, which came to an end in 2008 thanks to the recession.

After hearing his friend talk about the work EMT’s do, Andrew obtained an EMT pre-test book, read it in three days and took the entrance test on the fourth day and was accepted into EMT training. During his training, Andrew discovered that he really enjoyed medicine. Even before he got hired as an EMT, Andrew had chosen to become a Physician Assistant. The next few years would prove to be the most challenging and rewarding journey of personal, academic, spiritual and professional growth.

Andrew spent a month of his training in Spokane and hoped to return permanently. After training and certification were complete, Andrew was referred to Northwest Spine and Pain Medicine and is happy to have found a place to call home.
